Easter Festivities

Easterfest 2013.

For those of you who don't know Easterfest is an annual festival that takes place over Easter - obviously.
Mainly it's a bunch of musicians and bands getting together and performing throughout the three day fest starting Friday ending Sunday night.
Although being on the crew I was there a few extra days and basically all the days and nights just blended together and I lost track of what day it was several times.

At the begining of Easterfest I made a deal with myself to meet at least three new people. And not just know their name but have some sort of conversation. I can confidently say that I fulfilled that quota a few times over.
I'm not sure in the end how many people I actually met but hopefully I will get to see them again! Also great catching up with some old friends, and the regular Easterfestarians.

Ever two hours there was a light/sound show from this umbrella sculpture. It was pretty cool the first couple times, but every two hours for three days was a tad annoying. Some people say that the upside down umbrellas summoned the rain. And boy did it rain. Not as bad as two years ago when the festival was basically wiped out completely. Enough rain to cause large amounts of mud that require gumboots.

There was a moment when I was sitting in the crew tent because the rain and lack of gumboots had me stranded with basically nothing to do so I was reading and waiting for my hot chocolate to cool down.
Two guys sat down beside me, mainly because I was sitting in front of the tv that had the live stream of performances that were continuing despite the rain. They introduced themselves and just asked a bunch of questions. Needless to say not much reading got done after they plonked themselves down, and when about 13 other people joined and started talking to them as well I gave up trying to read entirely.
"Embrace your inner extrovert" one of the guys said when I mentioned something about the number of people crowding around me.

It was pretty random, and I never saw them again after that.

I enjoyed seeing my brother performing with his band - Wilderness.Several times throughout their set I was covered with goosebumps, mainly cause I was cold and also super proud of them.

Relient K,was awesome and they sung almost all of my favourites, including Sadie Hawkins.

I saw Bec Laughton performing a couple times and each time she was ridiculously good singing and just bopping around on the stage. Zeek Power was the last gig I saw at Easterfest, my favourite part was when he invited his grandad on stage to sing with him. So cute.

Bumping out was pretty fun, dragging garbage bins, finding lost property, a few couches here and there as the tents and stages folded down around us.

So yeah, that was my weekend, which was actually a week ago now. CRAZY! Hope you had a lovely time celebrating Easter!
